FOR SALE:

Yes, the car is officially for sale – money, looking to get back into motorcycles, lack of a place to keep it indoors (It has not spent a winter outside since being painted), and wanting to someday purchase a house have me torn between hanging on to it, and selling it. Please understand I have many, MANY hours of work into this car and will NOT sell this car to a kid. I do not want to feel partially responsible for a kid killing themselves or possibly someone else in or with it. It is NOT a car that should be driven in the rain. I have daily commuted to work with it on decent days with great reliability and fun (25 miles each way), and have even gotten caught out in the rain with it. But with the tires on the back (drag radials) and the power this car has, it is not for the faint of heart in the rain. It gets around 14mpg around town, and I’ve gotten as many as 24mpg on the highway. I usually average around 17mpg.

The asking price is $9500. Make me an offer, but this car has over 25k in it, and is absolutely one of the nicest 3rdgen firebirds you will see on the road today, so the price is pretty firm. It is a well recognized car, and I receive waves, smiles, points, and even positive attention from the cops. I have to say this even though it goes without saying, this car is sold AS IS – I will be PERFECTLY willing to give you my contact information and help you out with any questions or problems you may have with it after the purchase, but once sold, I will assume no expense.

About the car:

This car has approximately 86,000 miles on it. I still drive it on a daily basis, it is registered and insured. It will go through emissions, as with any car of this likeness, it is not easy.

This car has some rather rare parts in it. One of these parts is the Dana 44 Rear end. Because of this, it does NOT have the better PBR rear disks and calipers. See below for parts I have for sale along with the car, one of which is a rear brake upgrade. On the plus side, this rear is much stronger than the 10 bolts, and has readily available internals.

I have several spare parts, all paperwork, including the original window sticker, owner’s manual, full factory service manuals and all the original spare tire parts and such. Functionally, this car functions like stock – the AC still works, all interior controls are run off the vacuum pump.

The interior is in good shape. No cracks in the dash pad.

Horsepower: I do NOT have a current dyno. Last time it was dyno’d it put 353hp/340trq to the wheels. Quite a few small changes have taken place since then, and quite frankly the car is a lot faster. I’m looking to get it dyno’d soon, but work is making that difficult. My guess is 380hp to the wheels. For what it’s worth, the car out runs a friends SC’d mustang that puts 400/400 to the wheels by about a half a car in the ¼ mile and starts running away over 120mph. This car is FAST, it will touch 160 without blinking and keep going. Before the 6-speed and engine tweaks, it ran a 12.06 @ 114.6 mph. Don’t ask for a slip, it’s faded away since it’s been to the track and ran that which was over 2 years ago.

The car was built as an all purpose type car – this car is PLENTY of fun at the local autocross. www.cartct.com – look at the pictures for the 4/27 event. It’s not competitive in it’s class without autocross tires, but it is a fun car and it handles great.

In the pictures, two things have changed: New chrome valve covers, and the exhaust now has 4” dumps under the rear bumper instead of the quad tips.

Look at the spring 06 and engine bay pics.

If you have ANY questions, or are interested in seeing the car and going for a ride in it (no I will not let you drive it until you’ve given me the cash and I have signed the title over), please contact me @ 203 – 232 – 2326, My name is Steve. Please call M-F between 6pm and 8:30pm; I cannot answer the phone at work. Saturday or Sunday any time is fine. If I don’t pick up, PLEASE, leave a message with your name and phone number. If you are not serious, do not waste your time or my time. I prefer to show the car on weekends, but can do so after work. I work in Oxford, live in Bristol, CT. The title is in hand and clean. I am the second owner of the vehicle.

I will be putting this car on EBay if it does not sell soon, I will post the link here. The buy it now will be the same as the asking price.
